More Girls Skateboarding

Shreducate Sharing Skateboarding

Shreducate offers skateboarding lessons, camps, skatepark tours, and birthday parties.  And you know the photos I love the most are of the girls.

Actions speak louder than words below Teagan giving a helping hand to Autumn.  Kindness grows kindness.  And children model the behaviors they see so keep it stylish on & off the board.

LIT Leader in Training – Who’s Leading Who

This week’s LIT Leader in Training Adventure – didn’t start off as expected.  I got sick, sent home and only went for 2 days.

I love my other LITs (aka the Green Shirts) & the Red Shirts.

And most of all I love the campers.  If you haven’t heard I started out as a camper.

And way back then there were 3 girls in the skate camp – an all time high!  This week lots of girls.

I want to be friends with my fellow skateboarders and camp gives you the time to get to know people & make friends.  Now I know it’s in the rules that you’re not supposed to get attached to your campers – but I think that must be for the red shirts or blue shirts not for me.

Two years ago I met Gui and now I get to watch him skate around the world and celebrate his being the youngest to land a 720.

He was always a better skater & it’s because of him I even drop in on a vert ramp or looked up where in the world Brazil is.

His enthusiasm is contagious & that’s what I love about so many of the campers – they come with this “can do” attitude.  And by Friday they are doing – here’s a video from the 6/15/16 Lunch Show

So maybe the LITs are the ones wearing the Green Shirts,  but I think the real leaders in skate camp are the kids because they lead us back to what skateboarding is really about – having fun & believing you can land that trick.

I hope that years from now I’ll still be friends & still be learning from my campers.  Another example where age is just a number – it’s the vibe that matters – me with Kirra.

Day 2 Skate Camp Still Sick

Obviously I’m not multi-tasking today.  So here’s a post on Tara who is multitasking with her skateboard!  I’m in love with this picture of her skateboarding and pushing the stroller.

Day 1 of Camp & I’m Sick

I had big expectations for this week. I was so excited to be an LIT in skate camp at the Ecke YMCA.

Day 1 was a bust. I woke up sick, got sent home & watched princess movies instead of skating with my campers.

As I have a fever of 106 & no appetite – I might be watching more movies tomorrow.

I like my princesses strong.  They can fight & are worth fighting for!

And I like handholding in skateboarding so I hope I’m better soon.  I miss you Kirra & all the other campers. 

 

Women’s Longboard Camp

I take skateboard lessons because they’re fun and I go and help at camps because that’s fun.   Can you learn to skate on your own – sure, but why would you want to when you can skate with friends!

Here’s a camp that I feel has the right idea.

I think that’s stylish on & off the board.  By the way the March camp was in Portugal, June will be Stuttgart, and August in France.  Traveling is super stylish with your board!
