New Week to Skateboard

Love Elsa’s caption

New week ???You? & Me?, Me & You?!

Every week is a new week to make the most of your life with the ones you love.  Elsa is a mom & skateboarder in Cologne, Germany.

We all get busy.  Posts take longer to get written because I have to put school first, but it’s important to remember to never get too busy to enjoy doing the things we love and spending time with the people we love.  If you missed out last week then make the time this week to get out there and have fun skateboarding with friends.

Happy Monday & Happy Week!

Fun With The Girls on The Pumptrack

Janine had her

First pumptracksession? with the girls!

in November 2017.  I’m very sorry for being so late in posting. Another place you can find her skating with the girls is downhill.

Where do you have fun skating with your friends?  There’s so many ways and places to skateboard.

Be sure to check out Janine plus her crews Band of Boarders downhill skaters from Switzerland and Bam Bam Skate.

More girls skateboard when they see girls having fun and they receive encouragement, so I hope you share where and with whom you’re skating soon.

Skate Rising September 8, 2018

Skate Rising, EXPOSURE Skate’s youth program for girls, had a fabulous turnout at their September monthly event.  The free event held at the Encinitas Community Park was attended by locals – including the Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear – and visitors from as far away as Canada.

Above Yash from Impact Skate Club visited from Canada. He and Catherine taught participants about the importance of making plans to achieve your dreams.

Impact Skate Club worked with Skate Rising on International Day of Service this past summer, so it was awesome to have the opportunity to meet and skateboard with Yash here in Encinitas.

Skateboarding is fun the world over and especially fun if you are able to skate with friends who encourage you.

In addition to skateboarding the girls made a craft with KD is Kindness Daily and supported San Diego Community Resource Center.

The hundred of donated items went to

fight hunger, homelessness and domestic violence in San Diego!

Skate Rising’s next monthly event is Saturday October 13th from 9-11am at the Encinitas Skate Plaza.  I hope you come to join in all the fun.

If you’ve never skateboarded before, there are volunteers to help and thanks to sponsors like SkateXS and My Grey Matterz there’s loner equipment.  So no excuses, just opportunities to come out, make friends, work on a community project, and of course skateboard with encouragement.

How Mimi Tackles Thursday

Mimi tackled Thursday 9/28/17 with her all

a 3 hour practice session ???

Pushed myself to try 5 brand new tricks, had 2 falls but got my first combo down; 180 Look Back ? & did my first 360 Step! If you want any tips or have any tips for me, please drop me a comment ?✌?

I love Mimi’s determination.  Skateboarding can look so elegant but before the elegance is practice, practice, practice.  The practice might not be pretty, falling can be frequent, but it will pay off.

Allow yourself to learn from your mistakes. May the voice in your head be patient, understanding, and clever to learn what to do differently the next time.

Mimi is having fun skating North of England in the UK.  More girls skateboard when they see girls having fun skating and the skills they learn on the board (determination, patience) help them 24/7!

Do More Things That Make You Forget to Check Your Phone

A beautiful picture of Inès with an equally beautiful caption:

Do more things that make you forget to check your phone ?

I originally asked to share this in November 2017 and I’m so sorry that I haven’t posted until now.  (I guess I should get better at organizing my phone 🙂

Truth is so many of us are overly dependent on our phones.  Phones are definitely useful tools but there has to be balance and skateboarding is the ideal thing to help you find that balance.

Here’s to hoping you have an opportunity to be in the moment of just you and your skateboard.

Thank you Inès for sharing and your patience in my posting this.

Stick With Skateboarding Until You Fall In Love

When you first start skateboarding it’s easy to become scared because it doesn’t feel natural and you’re sure that you’re going to fall.  To be honest you will fall a lot even after you’ve been skateboarding awhile.

That’s why it’s important to know that others were scared too and they stuck with it just long enough to find out they love skateboarding.

In August of 2017 @madawgsk8 started skating

This was my first day on a board and I practiced pivoting (was anyone else scared when first learning how to??) and turning for like 3 hours. then rode back and fourth in the corner of a room bouncing from wall to wall. I finally had the confidence to try this curve (it was a lot more intimidating to me than how it looks here) and as you can see I was soooo happy after I got it.

What does she think of her year old videos?

Crazy to me to watch my first video from almost a year ago, I’m so much more comfortable with myself and I’m becoming one with my board 🙂 I love skateboarding!!!

I’m so glad @madawgsk8 shared because we all start as beginners and most of us have fears so it’s encouraging to hear that others have faced the same struggles and stuck with it.

Whether it’s on or off the skateboard don’t let fear rule you.  Fear is not real, it’s your imagination talking to you, so tell your imagination to change their tone and direction to positive self talk.

@madawgsk8 practiced inside with help from a wall, what’s worked for you to improve your skateboarding?  Hope you share your skate tips and inspiration soon.

Grace Longboarding Globally

Last time I blogged about Grace aka @IamGreySwan she was longboarding in New Zealand.  Since then she’s been skating the world.

Above she just won 2nd place for People’s Choice during the Pipeline Solothurn slide jam in Solothurn, Switzerland where she now lives.

And as of the time I’m drafting this post she’s at Kozakov Downhill Challenge in the Czech Republic.

Austria was just one of her stops in between.

All around the world more girls skateboard when they see girls having fun skating and a girl can travel the world with her board.

Are you traveling like Grace?  Would love to share some of the places you’ve had fun skating.

Laís’ Skateboarding Advice

Laís’ advice

Free your mind and do it with passion !

Her passion shows in her skateboarding – such style.

What are you passionate about?  If you haven’t found your passion yet, it’s never too late.  You’ll know it’s your passion because you are not only willing to work but you’ll find yourself enjoying the work.

Face your fears, take on challenges because on the other side could very likely be your passion.  Fear is not real – I’ve been told it’s in your imagination.  I believe it because fear is something you think will happen, not something in the present. So free your mind of fear and focus on the now and be present in whatever you are trying to do.

Till next time keep it stylish on & off the board.  I’m in 11th grade now, so the school work is intense and the posts are farther apart but if you want to share please let me know.  It will get posted as I have breaks in school work.

Having a great night with the youth yesterday!? This is my last skate class in 2017.its special and thanksful as we cruised around in the big park and i met those youth, they were so smart, kind and cute ! ????Although we skated at midnight ,we had so much fun and they knew more about skateboarding ! ⭐ Wish they will have a Happy Christmas!? ?

Wandy has been skateboarding for about 16 years and she loves sharing skating with others.  While it took me forever to post this – sorry for the delay – Wandy has been teaching more.

How do you share your love of skateboarding?  Keep sharing because kindness grows exponentially and it really helps people stay motivated to learn on & off the board.
