Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Skateboarding

rita

Rita’s caption for this “girls just want to have fun”!

You know I couldn’t agree more. Skateboarding should be fun, which is not to say you can’t get hurt. Skateboarding is a sport and in sports you can get hurt. I think you shouldn’t let the fear of getting hurt stop you from skateboarding.

I also think it’s up to the skateboarder to decide what safety gear to wear. But if you’re having a bad hair day, it’s better to wear the helmet. Bad hair is never in fashion!

And if people make fun of you for wearing pads – that’s them not you. People with real style do not laugh at the expense of others. So till next time, keep it fashionable & fun like Rita, who’s ripped jeans I am loving!

Skateboarding is Universal Fun

pineapple

Blondewantspineapple and skateboarding – she loves skating in Cadiz and Chiclana South Spain! You can just tell she’s having fun and she definitely has style. I’m loving that puppy too – he knows to keep his eye on the skatingfashionista & stay by her board!

One of the best things about skateboarding is it is universal – doesn’t matter what language you speak or where you skate –  you can always connect with a fellow skater. And smiling is universally fashionable – I don’t believe it causes wrinkles.

Why Does This Skatingfashionista Drink Boxed Water?

boxed

I was first attracted to Boxed Water when I saw a display at the Anaheim Train Station. I thought that’s cool and it’s on sale – so I tried it. I liked it – it tasted like water and the box was rad.

Before I saw water in plastic bottles so I thought that’s how it is – water comes in plastic bottles. Then I saw Boxed Water and saw an option. To me it’s just like skateboarding. Most people think skateboarding is for boys because that’s what they see. If I want more girls to skateboard, I have to show girls skateboarding and if I want more people to drink Boxed Water, I have to show at least myself drinking it.

I don’t hate plastic bottles – it’s just they’re not as recyclable and they’re bulkier when empty. For the stats go to Boxed Water Site and I don’t know if heated plastic (like leaving a water bottle in your car) releases toxins that could kill me – I’m an amateur skateboarder and fashionista – I care more that the Boxed Water looks fashionable.

When you visit Boxed Water you’ll also see they donate 1% of annual revenue to world water relief, reforestation, and environmental protection projects – I like that. I know I’m blessed to live where I live, skate when I want, and never worry about where my water comes from the least I can do is help others.

So until the next blog post – keep it fashionable for me & try a Boxed Water (decide for yourself if it is better)

Skateboarding is Rolling Yoga

katy

Katyycoconut is a stylish shredder with some serious yoga poses. Check out her Instagram to see what I mean. I think skateboarding is rolling yoga and I’m totally inspired by Katy’s handstands!

One of the best things about this blog is learning there are girls everywhere skating. And then finding out how incredible these skater girls are.  Katy inspires me with her stylish skating and positive attitude.

GRO Girl Skateboard Sessions Work

peace

I added a direct link on my blog. It’s to the GRO Girl Riders Organization event calendar. I just attended their San Diego event in Ocean Beach on Sunday 2/22 and I’m hoping to take a road trip to LA this coming weekend.

The San Diego girls I met were rad – we exchanged e-mails and are going to meet up the 4th Sunday of each month – check the link for details – for sure March 22nd 10-noon in Ocean Beach.

I’m not saying girls have to skate with girls or even that skating with girls is better than skating with boys. I’m saying I’d like to see more girls skateboarding. And I think that goal is achieved best by girls seeing girls skate and everyone encouraging girls to skate.

I found it inspirational as did other girls who went. Above Melissa aka peacknots shares about getting over mental blocks and I’ve seen e-mails from girls who left park encouraged to practice tricks like transition to 50-50 and rock to fakies and tail slides.

One girl is strong together we are stronger!  See you at the park and for me keep it fashionable!

Beautiful Skate Deck

deck

After admiring how beautiful the deck is – I realized it was done by hand with a sharpie by Keira. Let the WOW factor sink in. I love mandalas as tats, on clothes, and now this gorgeous deck. This beauty just has to be shared!

Skateboarding is sport & art. While a skate deck is required, the art on it is up to the individual. I love when people show their personality and talents on their decks.

Girls Can Skateboard

gaby

Gabrielidiniz definitely shows that girls can skate and she blows Greg Davidson’s Skateboard Stereotype

“girls just aren’t that good at skating and therefore don’t belong at skate spots. It has to do with their bone structure and their center of gravity. Don’t be mad that you suck ladies, it’s just science, and you can’t argue with that”

Greg, don’t be mad but all skate spots would be better without you & your deep thinking. Keep those scientific thoughts at home!

Positive Vibrations of Girl Skateboarding

mj1

This is Mary Jo and her Instagram name speaks the truth maryjoskates! I love her skating and her attitude is inspiring: “I will adore anyone I cross paths with, positive vibrations attract me!”

It’s true you attract what you put out and look for. When I was afraid to skate – I didn’t skate and I saw only haters who scared me. Since starting this blog I seek out people like Mary Jo and I find I want to skate more each day.
