Skate Like a Girl – Ladies Night in Portland, Oregon

@skatelikeagirlpdx has launched a Ladies Night @commonwealthskate last Friday of every month, 8-10pm!

Fridays, 8-10pm | $7 open skate | Gear Provided
✅ All abilities
✅ All ages
✅ Always inclusive

I love to see events like this and love when people share their pictures and stories from them.

More girls skateboard when they see girls having fun and receiving encouragement so there’s always room on the blog to share events like this.

Skate Like a Girl Portland is one of the Skate Like a Girl Chapters.  Check them out on IG

Plus a reminder Skate Like a Girl Wheel of Fortune 8 is coming up

Gang of Girls Spreading Kindness

The Big Blend Theory shares this fun video.  It’s so fun it inspires you to want to skate with your girls.  It’s captioned:

Pascal’s new gang of girlfriends. I’m loving how supportive they are of one another. The meaning of rad, right here. ✌?They even got me to skate down two ramps. ?Only after watching Pascal of course.

I had to post this during Random Acts of Kindness Week because girls encouraging girls needs to happen more.

The Big Blend Theory is in Portland, Oregon – where’s your “girl gang”?

When you share your pictures/videos and stories of girls encouraging each other, which is the essence of kindness, it inspires more girls to do the same.

I also love that this post shows skateboarding and girls have no age limits.   At nearly 40 she’s buying her first skateboard to skate with the other girls!  Yes, more girls skateboard when they see girls having fun skateboarding!!!

#3StripesFor3Years – Happy Birthday Skate Like a Girl PDX – recap

I wasn’t able to make it to Skate Like a Girl’s PDX 3rd Birthday Party held at Jade District Multicultural Space on September 10th, so I’m writing this post with some of the pictures that were shared.

Why celebrate 3 years of Skate Like a Girl PDX?  Because they offer skateboarding programs that benefit everyone.  Skateboarding has rewards outside of the skatepark and our immediate community. Girls and women who believe in themselves are more likely to raise their hand in the classroom, advocate for themselves in the workplace and attract the company of those who respect them.

There were shoe collaborations & shoe decorating.  I’m a fashionista so the recap had to start with the shoes & glitter.

There were some Tech Deck “competitions” plus my favorite food pizza & refreshments.  (It’s important to not skate when hungry – swim on an empty stomach – skate on a full stomach.)

There was skateboarding – open skate and a demo.

Above a video & below a few pictures.

So many pictures of happy faces – including the many volunteers who made the event possible.

As the caption to this photo says The future is fierce!

and I think brighter because of the work that Skate Like a Girl PDX does – make sure to check them out

Till next time keep it stylish on & off the board.  Share your pictures, stories & events – more girls do skateboard as they see girls skateboarding & get encouragement.

Skateboard with What You Have

insane.children shares this video from Portland, Oregon

She says she needs to tighten her trucks but she doesn’t have a skate tool.  I love that rather than use it as an excuse to not skate she just went and skated.

I’ve also noticed that no matter how many skate tools I have, I never have one when I need it.  Where do missing skate tools go?

Strong Girls Support, Encourage & Congratulate Others

I’ve known Justyce Tabor for a couple of years now and she’s always impressed me with both her skateboarding skills and attitude.

They say attitude is everything – I’ve even heard attitude is the difference between an ordeal and an adventure – Bob Bitchin.  I believe it.  I skateboard for fun and you can tell who else does because the entire vibe is positive. Justyce lives a life of adventure!

I’m so happy to congratulate her on her own Silly Girl pro model deck!  If your skate shop doesn’t carry Silly Girl – ask them why but first go order the deck from Pink Widow Distribution.

silly girl is a symbol for individuality, unity and progression, sometimes associated with females that skateboard;  silly girls help promote and establish a vision for females of all ages to see that there are no limits to what they can do.   sillygirlskateboards.com

On the 7th day of December we were happy for #oregonluck
