Skateboarding should be fun – keep it fun and you’ll always be in style.  Liza is a sassy songstress committed 2 the betterment of society thru creative revolution.  There’s nothing more controversial than telling the truth.

I never thought about the truth being controversial till I red her bio.  Maybe that’s why there’s always such a reaction when I say my mission is to get more girls skateboarding for fun & keeping it fashionable – the truth is girls can skate and be stylish!

Be someone who supports girls being who they are!  It’s time for everyone to know the truth – one is girl is strong many girls working together are invincible!

London’s Calling

London’s Calling and they said check out the House of Vans.  lovelks shared this picture from a Girls Night at the House of Vans London.

She had a rad time and definitely plans on skateboarding more.  Usually that’s all it takes – try skateboarding, like skateboarding, keep skateboarding.

Keep sharing your pictures of skateboarding for fun – especially love the ones where girls are having fun together.

Have you guessed where she’s skateboarding?

She’s at the Dubai Mall – thanks w.s2015 for sharing this video of you getting your switch backside shuv it’s pretty well also got switch fronside but they were sketchy.

I would not have guessed Dubai Mall but I can sleep better knowing that such a mall exists with such a rad skatepark.

Where are you skateboarding?  Take time to tag me so we can all see girls all around the world – having fun & keeping it stylish!

Rock n’ Roll in Colombia

columbia

Valen Lopera shares this picture from Colombia.  When I googled Colombia I found out just how serious Colombians were about skating.

Since 1974, on Sundays and national holidays the country’s capital closes it’s usually congested main roads to give Bogotá’s residents a chance to walk, run, bike, skate, skip, hop, etc. In other words, from 7 AM to 2 PM Colombian families and tourists can use the over 75 miles of asphalt as their playground.  – Huffington Post

If you follow the link you’ll see 20 additional reasons why the Huffington Post says Colombia is the Happiest Country in the World.  After this picture and the slide show – I’m ready to take my board south & I know I’ll keep it stylish because I just read that Columbia is the Fashion Capital of Latin America!

If at First You Don’t Succeed – Try Try Again

3 years got feeble

If at first you don’t succeed – it can be tempting to give up.  Don’t just give up.  Mely_skates has been skateboarding for three year and she keeps working on tricks till she lands them.  This picture is from her video of a feeble at Wirth Skate Park.

I believe in skateboarding for fun, so landing tricks isn’t my priority but I do believe in the power of learning how to stick with something until you get it.

I agree with Albert Einstein that Insanitydoing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.  That’s why working on a trick, trying different approaches until you get it is so powerful.  Trial & error may not be glamourous but it’s definitely a skill that will help you both on & off the board.

Too Pretty for What???

Girls often get mixed messages – messages to be strong and messages to be pretty.   Cary Williams got those message and did something about it – she said it’s not either or – a girl can be strong and pretty at the same time.

Cary, a former Olympic style boxer, now owns several California boxing clubs, coaches at her club in Santa Monica, CA, and started and runs Too Pretty Brand.

As the skatingfashionista I wanted to know more so here’s what I found out from Cary.

SF: Originally your brand was “Never Too Pretty To Hit Like a Boy” when did you decide to expand to other sports?

The idea to reach out to other sports came from the simple idea that girls “hit” lots of things in a lot of sports, not just boxing. I starting thinking about girls hitting balls in soft ball, volleyball, tennis and many more. This led me to expand the idea of the brand to reach all girls/women in everything they do with strength, determination and grace.

SF: Is Too Pretty a non-profit? I love how you give back to the community and support athletes and teams – do you have a favorite success story to share?

I have created a couple of non profits in the boxing world and that is the idea I have for Too Pretty.

But with Too Pretty we need to generate revenue in order to give a percentage of that to support all of our sisters out there! We currently do small sponsorships for some young athletes but the goal is to do that on a larger scale. The biggest goal I have for the brand is to create a movement to allow all young girls and women to feel like they can do anything they put their mind to no matter what anyone expects!

SF: Too Pretty has a shop – I love when you’re able to combine passions like sport, fashion, and charity.

And I love that your clothes let others show what they believe – that girls can be strong & pretty. I think clothes like these start positive vibes that can lead to real change.

I’m torn between Shred Like a Boy & Too Pretty? Never. I’d have to go Too Pretty? Never as my favorite because you never know what you’ll try next and I want girls to believe they can try anything.

What’s your favorite message current, past, or coming? And where can people get these shirts on the website & ???

My past favorite was “hit” like a boy because that was where the brand started, my current favorite is “be a boss” because it encompasses so much more than one sport or activity.

There will be a new “crush it” line coming out before Christmas which may become my new favorite because it is a bit more aggressive!

The online store at www.tooprettybrand..com has all of the gear and we will be adding some new lines such as “sweat” and “crush it” along with a vintage print. Items will include long sleeved dolman tops, hoodies, sweatpants, beannies and fanny packs!

SF: Do you skateboard or want to try skateboarding – if so where & when are we meeting up?

I actually owned a very small pink skateboard when I was a youngster. I loved that little pink board! Of course, I was the only girl I knew that even had one. I was surprised they made a pink one!

Problem was when I was growing up there weren’t any skate parks and I grew up in the “hood” so there were no empty swimming pools to shred in!

Hope everyone enjoyed this post  – I am always excited to find girls doing & being the rad – please keep sharing where you get inspiration to keep it stylish on & off the board. More girls skate when they see girls skateboarding and all girls are stronger when we support each other!

& oh yes – I’m going to bug Cary to find that little pink board or just get a new one – too keep up with Too Pretty on Instagram just click here.

All Boards Are Fun

Screen shot 2015-08-29 at 10.14.17 AM

Love this photo from supdad16 – his paddle girl is 5 and her wish is to paddle the long smooth road!

I love that her dad encourages her and that his attitude is Life’s just better when your on a board.

Really it doesn’t matter if your skating street, or park , or hill or even if you’re skating.  There’s so much fun out there on all kinds of boards – snow, wake, paddle . . . .

Till next time keep it stylish on & off the board – whatever that board may be!

When is it ok to But Board?

Mimire55 shows us that any time you want you can have fun but boarding!  You know I love style especially style that’s fun & just makes other smile.  This picture – girls together being silly & having fun – makes me smile!

Style is universal on & off the board all around the world.  Please share where you are having fun skateboarding because more girls do skate when they see girls having fun skateboarding.

When People Tease You About Skateboarding

Learning anything new can be scary.  So it helps to keep a positive mind and focus on things that give you strength.  That’s why I love audbam’s photo & tag about learning to longboard

Jesus

I work ahead so several weeks passed between the picture and the post.  When I went to check the link, I was really sad to see that audbam had been teased for participating in the blog.  I’ve been teased and bullied and yes I’ve heard sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me – and maybe it’s literally true.  But what’s 100% true is words can build you up, words can tear you down.

We all make mistakes including saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.  I just want to challenge myself & others to try and use the words that build yourself and others up.

The world would be a better more peaceful place if everyone remembered & practiced

Till next time keep skateboarding for fun & encouraging others to be their best – because that’s what’s Thumper wishes for everyone.
